Adjusts the driver’s seat to fit my body, GD-TT2

SUBARU SAMBER

Perhaps because I’m not the average build assumed when the car was designed, the pipes on the top of the chair back hit my spine while I’m driving, causing me terrible pain.

The headrest is also too low, so the all-important top of my head sticks out.

Basically, I’m just too big, and it makes driving for long periods of time difficult.
I decided to modify it.

The photo above shows what it looks like with the driver’s seat removed and the vinyl leather backrest removed.

When I removed the sponge from the backrest, it looked like this.

This is a photo looking down on the backrest frame.
The upper pipe touches the back, so if it were thinner and more curved, it might not touch the back.

I hammered the pipe on the backrest to crush and bend it.

I put the sponge and vinyl leather back on and attached it to the driver’s seat.

The headrest is fixed and the height cannot be adjusted, but we removed the spot welds and disassembled it, then re-drilled the mounting holes so that it was in a higher position and screwed it in place.

The photo shows the passenger seat as before, but the driver’s seat in the foreground has been modified.

For now, the frame no longer hits the spine.
The headrest is also now in a position where it rests on the head.
It’s easier to drive than before.
